This year's promo for the Heart Children NZ ride at the Taupo Cycle Challenge saw TV3 Sport picking up the story. Both Meg and Guy feature (Meg in pink). Guy made friends with ex All Blacks and all round Super Stars Eroni Clark and Michael Jones.

Aussie Holiday
We've had a wonderful holiday in Australia with the Ratcliffe's, the Spragvies, and the Ward's. Thanks to all for a great time and sorry about the lack of photos of grown ups!

Guy's 6 month cardio check
Guy had an appointment with the cardio team today and the good news is there is no change (a tiny improvement, which could just be the reading).
There is no change in the meds, except for an increase in one - carvedilol.
So, steady as she goes. Great news ;) Another appointment in 6 months.
Bevan and Tess have also had cardio appointments recently. Tessa's left bundle branch block has had no change and Bevan's heart is at the upper end of normal in size. So generally all good and we won't need to be back till next year.

What we've been up to lately!
Hi everbody,
Guy and I have been pretty busy lately (keeping Mum & dad busy too!!). Had a few days off CK with colds and bugs and things but have still managed to have heaps of fun & see lots of our friends over the past few months. There is a few funny shots in our latest vid - hope you enjoy.

Super Fly Guy's Hospital Visit
Another fantastic result for Guy today at the heart clinic. He came one step closer to getting his Fly Guy Super Hero pilot's licence!
While I don't have the figures the doctors are very pleased with his ECG ("stickers on my tummy mummy!") and Echo ("Jelly on my tummy mummy!"). They show almost normal heart function and size!
His heart is a bit larger than normal but this may be because of the increase in muscle mass to help out when the pumping was so poor. They expect that he will grow into his heart size as he gets bigger.
It's still not pumping at a normal level, but the difference is minimal and not concerning the doctors.
So he's off frusemide (the diuretic) which gets rid of fluid built up when the heart doesn't pump properly. He's reduced the spironolactone which helps the pumping but is given in higher doses when you have fluid to get rid of. And he's on more captopril to increase with his size.
So, it's a 'steady as she goes' with the real heart meds which is fine by us!
We won't be in to see our friends at Starship (touch wood) for another 4-6 months. Guy loves the attention he gets whenever he goes back, so might miss it a little. As much as I think they all deserve to be canonised, I won't be missing it.
He was also spoilt rotten today with Sarma's undivided attention. The joys of Air NZ's new Masterton - Auckland route! It was so good to have Mum there and the medical brain to remember all the details.
While we were there we caught up with Sarah Kyle, which was lovely. Alex had some good results today just along in the grown-up heart ward. A good day all in all. We wish them well for their stay in Hearty Towers this week.
Tomorrow Auntie George and Uncle Bruce fly in briefly for the Cold Play concert, 'Auntie' Kirst comes back from The Bay before heading back to the UK on Sunday night, it's Auntie Rachel's birthday and Auntie Noos is babysitting - a fun filled family day!

Busy Feb & March.
As you can see it has been a while between posts – may have something to do with me being back at work full-time! All is well with us in sunny old Sandringham. We have had a lot of visitors over the Feb/March period (which is always good!!) and March has been busy so far and will continue to be so!!
I went to a Class of 84 re-union last week and managed about 4 hours sleep over the two nights I was away (still have the stamina). We have a couple of concerts coming up, a wedding to attend (Meg is the girl flower) and a visit to the hospital for Guy. It’s his 4 monthly check-up, so we’ll let you know how it goes!

Holiday 1 - Matapouri

As the title suggests we spent the Xmas period in sunny Auckland with the extended whanau -Hodsons, Hopkins, Vincents & Pinfolds. As for New Years we were truly sad - so less said about that the better!!
